The exact origin of the martini cocktail is unclear. The name Martini may be derived from the Martini Brand of vermouth. Another popular theory suggests it evolved from a cocktail called the Martinez served sometime in the early 1860s at the Occidental Hotel in San Francisco.
Indeed, a Martinez Cocktail was first described in Jerry Thomas's 1887 edition of his Bartender's Guide.

Method: Stirred

Stirring is a method of making a cocktail, To make a Martini, pour Gin and Vermouth into a Japanese mixing glass along with ice cube and stir it using a bar spoon for approx 20 to 30 sec and strain it into a Chilled Martini Glass.
