How to make Clover Club cocktail.

 

The Clover Club is a cocktail made using gin, lemon juice, raspberry syrup, Dry vermouth, and egg white. Sometimes egg white is not added to the drink to give flavour to the drink, but egg white emulsifies the clover club cocktail. When the drink is shaken a characteristic foamy head is formed.

Clover Club Cocktail History:

The Clover Club cocktail is a drink that pre-dates from the prohibition in the united states and is named for the Philadelphia Men's Club of the same name, which met in the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel at South Broad and Walnut Streets in Center City.
The Clover Club Cocktail Recipe itself dates to 1896, as seen in the 1897 book, The Clover Club of Philadelphia.

The Clover Club Cocktail is a classic cocktail made using gin, lemon juice, raspberry syrup, dry vermouth, and egg white.

Clover Club Cocktail Ingredients:

  • Gin - 1 1/2 oz (45 ml)
  • Lemon juice - 1/2 oz (15 ml)
  • Raspberry syrup - 1/2 oz (15 ml) 
  • Dry Vermouth - 0.5 cl (5 ml)
  • Egg white - 1 no or 20 ml

Glassware: Cocktail Glass or Champagne Coupe.

Method: Shaken.
Shaking is a method of making a cocktail, to make Clover Club Cocktail you need to add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and give it a good dry shake, then add ice cube into the shaker and shake it vigorously for 8 - 10 sec until the cocktail shaker is chill. Strain the drink into a pre-chilled cocktail or a champagne coupe glass, garnish and serve the Chilled Clover Club Cocktail.

What is a Dry Shake?
Dry Shake is nothing but shaking all the ingredients without adding the ice cubes is called dry shake, this style of shake is usually done when you got egg in the list of ingredients. When you use eggs in making a cocktail. the egg emulsifies the cocktail and you will get a nice and foamy head to the drink.

Garnish: Garnish the clover club using fresh raspberries. Either you can drop a raspberry or use three raspberries poked to a garnish stick as shown in the image at the starting of the post.
