How to make Cosmopolitan Cocktail.

 

Cosmopolitan is a lip-smacking cocktail that is made with 4 simple ingredients vodka, lime juice, Cointreau or triple sec and cranberry juice. A cosmopolitan cocktail is perfect for a party.

Cosmopolitan Cocktail History:

A Bartender Neal Murray says that a Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe is created by him in 1975 at Cork & Cleaver steak house in Minneapolis. According to him, he added a splash of cranberry juice to a Kamikaze Cocktail recipe and the first taster declared, "How Cosmopolitan." This supposedly led to the naming of the new beverage.

What's in a Cosmopolitan Cocktail:

Cosmopolitan contains 4 ingredients vodka, lime juice, Cointreau & cranberry juice, and is very simple to make it.

Cosmopolitan Cocktail Ingredients:

  • Vodka - 1 & 1/2 oz ( 45 ml )
  • Lime juice - 1/2 oz ( 15 ml )
  • Cointreau or triple sec - 1 part ( 20 ml )
  • Cranberry juice - just a splash.

Glassware: Martini Glass.


Method: Shaken.

Shaken is a method of making a cocktail, wherein, pour all the ingredients into the cocktail shaker and add ice cubes to it and shake it vigorously for 8 to 10 secs.


Garnish:

Classic garnish for a cosmopolitan cocktail is flamed orange zest.

What is Cointreau: 

Cointreau is Orange Flavoured Liqueur. The liqueur is a strong, sweet alcoholic spirit, usually drunk after the meal, which acts as a digestive. Triple sec can be a Cointreau Substitute,

Triple Sec:

Triple sec is an orange flavoured syrup or it can be an orange flavoured liqueur. 

Triple sec Vs Cointreau

Triple sec is as same as Cointreau, but Cointreau is Proprietory and triple sec is generic.
The difference is triple sec can be made by anyone or in any other country, 
but Cointreau can't be made by anyone else across the world, apart from Manufacturer Remy Cointreau from France. Triple Sec can be a Cointreau alternative.
