How to Make a Mai Tai Cocktail

Mai Tai is a rum-based cocktail, made with rum, Orange liqueur, orgeat syrup, and lime juice. It is one of the famous cocktails in Tiki culture. Mai Tai Cocktail is one of the classic cocktails.


Mai Tai Cocktail history:

The History of Mai Tai started as a rum cocktail so popular it supposedly depleted world rum supplies in the 1940s and 50s. At the time of 1944, when the cocktail was invented by the victor. j.Bergeron who is better known as a trader Vic it wasn't a sugar bomb.
The name was allegedly taken from Mai Tai, The Tahitian word for good or excellence, although the Mai Tai drink is usually spelt as two words sometimes hyphenated or capitalized.

Mai Tai Cocktail Recipe:

Mai Tai drink is a cocktail made from amber Jamaican rum, orange curacao, orgeat syrup, lime juice and simple syrup. 

Mai Tai Ingredients:

  • W.Rum - 1 & 1/2 oz (45 ml)
  • Fresh lime juice - 1/2 oz (15 ml)
  • Orange Curacao - 1/2 oz (15 ml)
  • Orgeat Syrup - 1/2 oz (15 ml)
  • Dark rum - 3/4 oz (22 ml) to float.

Glassware: Highball or old fashion glass.

Method: Shaken Method.

The shaken method is a simple method of making a cocktail, Add all the ingredients excluding dark rum and add ice cubes into a cocktail shaker and shake it vigorously for 8 to 10 secs. Pour it into a highball or old fashion glass and float the dark on the top. Here we have the Classic Mai Tai Cocktail.
